Hydrolysed Formulas

Hydrolysed baby formulas are types of formula that have had their proteins broken down (hydrolysed) into smaller pieces for easier digestion. There are two main types of hydrolysed formulas:

  1. Partially hydrolysed formula (PHF): contains partially broken down proteins.

  2. Extensively hydrolysed formula (EHF): contains proteins that are broken down into smaller pieces, making them easier to digest for infants with severe protein allergies or intolerances.

Both types of hydrolysed formula can be beneficial for infants with sensitive stomachs or protein allergies. It's important to consult a doctor before switching to a hydrolysed formula, as they are only recommended for infants with specific digestive problems.

Partially Hydrolysed Formula (PHF)

This type of formula is intended for infants who are unable to tolerate intact proteins in traditional formula, but may not have severe enough protein allergies or intolerance to require an extensively hydrolysed formula.

The Bébé M Formula range is a PHF designed for babies who are 6-12 months old and are transitioning from breast milk or infant formula to solid foods. It is formulated to provide a balanced intake of nutrients, including protein, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins, and minerals to support a growing baby's needs, all whilst being 100% plant-based.

Extensively Hydrolysed Formula (EHF)

EHF is often recommended for infants with conditions such as cow's milk protein allergy (CMPA) or eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), as these conditions can cause discomfort, abdominal pain, skin rashes, and other symptoms. By breaking down the proteins into smaller pieces, EHF can help reduce these symptoms and improve the infant's overall digestive comfort.

The World Health Organization recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months of life, followed by the introduction of complementary foods with continued breastfeeding. Always consult a doctor or a medical professional before introducing a new formula into your baby's diet.
